After a few days of using my new E228FP monitor, I’ve gotten to like it a lot more. Of course, you can see my initial thoughts on my E228FP. I watched a movie, and the quality was fantastic! Unlike my previous monitors, a PyxScape and another generic brand name, this monitor does not have any white streaks on it. The dark areas was a lot darker than that of my other LCD screens.
Since I use this LCD as an external monitor to my M1330, I can’t help but compare the two screens. At first sight, the E228FP is not quite as bright as my LED screen. The color on the E228FP is also a tad bit yellower (is that a word?), or slightly on the tan side. I am unsure on how to calibrate my LCD screens, but I think with a bit of calibration, the colors of the two screens can be more consistent.
Of course, I cannot compare an LCD to an LED screen in terms of brightness, that’s like comparing apples to oranges. When compared to my previous screens, the dark was a lot darker, and bright was A LOT brighter. I am not an artist, so the exact color of things aren’t too important for me. I do a lot of programming, and this screen is just the perfect thing for me. Of course, in many other benchmarks, Dell LCDs in general are better than Acers. Although I cannot say for sure, but I would assume it is the case here.
I am happy with my E228FP. No dead pixels, no scratches on the screen. No returns and no hassles. I cannot say the same about my M1330 though.
