Starcraft II?

I have been battling over the past few weeks if I should get into Starcraft II or not.  The last time I really got into a game, it was Warcraft II, and that totally killed my time.  The offline play was okay, but the online probably took about 3 years of my life.  Essentially, I got pretty good at the game, and once you get to the upper echelon of players, it takes even more of your time because of the fierce competition.  I am by no means a professional player, but I can get things built rather quickly.

I wrote a little program to measure my APM during game (since APM had not been invented in the days of war2), and of course, mine is horrible compared to say, ToSsGirl's.  If you look at some of her YouTube videos, ToSsGirl has some amazing 360 APM videos.  On a good game, I get about 310 APM, which is litterally 1 click a second behind TG's, and that's on a good game.  I usually average about 290, far from being able to game on a professional level.  I wonder what the average APM is for a normal gamer, and what the average APM for a professional gamer.  I would bet that it's drastically different.

So, back to the original problem if I want to play Starcraft II or not?  I am almost done with school, and then after school, there's work.  Would there be enough time for me to dedicate to SC2?  Anyone out there who has a family and works full time that plays games?  I would love to hear how you manage this, and if it is possible to actually get competitive skills on an RTS game like SC2.
