I've been pretty busy with school, this is finals week for me and a few projects are due at the end of the week.  However, I have been pretty lazy with getting school work done, and I am slightly behind. On the other hand though, I have finished scripting a simple replay hosting script for Warcraft 2.  You can start browsing the replays here.

There are a few things I would like to be able to do with this script, but it won't be anytime soon.  First off, if it is a dk2 (warvid) video, it would be cool if users can stream the video right off of the website as opposed to downloading and loading warvid.  However, this will take a lot of work for video formatting and conversions.  The other problem would be bandwidth.  I have enough bandwidth for a few videos here and there, but if a lot of people are viewing, the server may not have enough.

The next thing I would like to do is to let the users have the ability to comment on the game.  Of course, I would need to have a "game" section first.  Right now, you can only browse who is playing who and download the replay.  In the (near) future, I would like to have the ability to click on a game and have a little description about that particular game.  I may code this to be somewhat of a wiki, that way, anyone can contribute to the description of the game.  It would be pretty nice if people would post game analysis.  However, knowing war2 players, the discussion will probably turn to a flame war in seconds.  If it ever gets to this, I will probably disable comments/descriptions.

Pagination and a better layout of the replays would definitely be a good thing too.  However, I cannot seem to think how I would be able to achieve that with a lot of information involved.  However, once I get a proper layout for replay, it would be a cool thing to be able to sort by outcome, map, resource, replay types, ect…

The ability to link multiple replays of the same game.  This was a situation where I had imagined of while designing the database layout, what a predicament!  I have a replay for a game in insight, then Mage sent me a warvid of that particular game!  Now, I would need to be able to link two replays together somehow so that they appear under the same game.  Quite somehting isn't it?

I am open for comments, send them this way if you have good ideas.  Or you can tell me that I suck and start flaming like all other occasions in war2 conversations :(.
