My oven/range no longer working

It has been a while since I’ve cooked at my mobile home with my oven/range.  I went home to western Washington for Christmas break, and after coming back to my temporary home here in Moscow, my oven/range has been broken.  At first, I thought the problem was in the range itself.  I did all sorts of tests, continuity, power, test on the power switch…everything!  I cannot find anything wrong with it, but I thought that there must be some severe rust somewhere.  The oven was old anyway, so I decided to get a new one…well, a new old one is more like it.

I waited until spring break, went back to Seattle one more time and got myself a JBP26 self cleaning oven through Craigslist for $50.  It wasn’t a bad deal, brought it back to Moscow and of course, it did not work.  It seems like I have power coming into the range.  The LEDs are on, the light bulb works, but it just doesn’t heat up.  I’ve tried a different power cord, no working.  By the way, if you ever have to change a 3-prong to a 4-prong cord, you would need to connect the ground wire of the 4-prong (usually green) to the ground.  On the back of your range, there should be a screw that’s green also, if there’s a metal strip connecting this ground screw to the white (neutral), remove the strip!  This ground is very important, and you should not forget to connect it.

Anyway, now I have no idea what is going on.  The only thing I can guess is that the outlet is broken or that the wiring in the house itself has gone bad.  I will try and switch out the outlet, but I’ve found out something while plugging away with my multimeter.  There’s Dcon my AC line!  What does this mean?  This DC line is also increasing in voltage too, it does not remain constant but increasing slowly.  Leaving it on for about half an hour and the DC on the line comes up to about 60V.  Is this a good sign?  Should I have an electrician come and check it out?  I’ll update this post as soon as I figure out the range or the electricity problem.

sorry I didnt find your posts sooner. Wish I could’ve helped. Your dc meter may be readsing Direct current on your range wire but I promise it isn’t really there DC voltage operates off batteries not utility power. not much help now sorry.
