XNA 2.0 Workshop with Charles Cox at WSU

The computer science major as part of the Washington State University's EECS department has been declining in the past few years (but it is improving rapidly this year).  This was due to a combination of lack of a proper director, hard teachers, and the domination of the IEEE club in the department.  The IEEE group, although supposed to also represent the computer science students also, has been focusing on the engineering students, mainly the EE people.  Thus for quite a number of years now, the computer science students have lacked leaders as well as weak bonds among the students.  This year, we are to make a difference.

A few computer science students have revived a dead ACM chapter (Assocation for Computing Machinery) at our school.  This is mainly the work of Robert Ward, Brett Hansen and Thomas Corll.  Since then, the club has worked tirelessly to organize events that are more geared toward the CS students like talks from people in different fields relating to CS.  This semester, we've hit it big with Mr. Cox and XNA.  With Mr. Cox's godly coding skills and generosity, we were able to set up an event for tomorrow March 2nd.

This will be one of the biggest events the CS students at WSU has seen for a while, and I'm pretty lucky to have been a part of it.  We are able to coordinate things on a tight schedule, and hopefully all will go well tomorrow.  I'll probably bring a camera and post some pictures of the event (if appropriate), and what we did during the event.  Of course, all of this wouldn't have happened if we didn't get in touch with Ivan Lumala of Microsoft, and I thank him deeply for getting us connected with Mr. Cox.  If you know Ivan or Charles personally, please give tell them thanks for us and that we owe them a big one.  If possible, I'll write another post on the event.  As for now, back to going over the checklist.
